Shoplifting suspect escapes custody during arrest

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Duluth Police were called to the Kohl's department store at 2115 Miller Trunk Highway in Duluth on reports of a male and female shoplifting in the store on Wednesday.

Initial investigation revealed a 24-year-old male suspect had a felony warrant out of Douglas County, Wis.

An officer arrested him, but then the suspect escaped custody fleeing on foot.

A perimeter was set up and a K-9 was deployed. The suspect was eventually located and taken back into custody.

He was transported to the Saint Louis County Jail for the warrant, and new charges of Escaped from Custody, Fleeing Police on Foot and Theft have been implemented.

The 27-year-old female that was shoplifting with him was issued a citation for Misdemeanor Theft and released.
