Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- The Superior Police officer involved in the chaotic arrest in the Keyport Lounge parking lot has been taken off of police patrol.

The reasoning stems from that dramatic dash cam video

That Officer in the video, George Gothner, has been placed in an administrative capacity while the department investigates the arrest of Natasha Lancour on January 5th.

The department wants to make clear there has been no finding of a violation of policy or law and this should not be viewed as a disciplinary measure.

In the video, it appears officer Gothner drags Lancour across the parking lot and throws her, face down, on his squad car, he then punches her in the face with a closed fist.

According to Gothner's police report, that was the first of two closed fist punches and one open handed slap.

The struggle continues as Gothner and Lancour step to the side of the squad car, where the altercation is no longer captured on camera.

That was until Thursday, when a man anonymously sent cell phone video that he took of the incident to Lancour's attorney Rick Gondik.

"It shows Officer Gothner continuing the assault when she's off the I-cop video and in no position to resist him. Sadly, it confirmed what we thought it would. That the beatdown continued off camera," said Lancour's defense attorney, Rick Gondik.

Lancour has been charged with disorderly conduct, resisting an officer and a felony battery to an officer.

Gondik was meeting with the D-A's office today in hopes of getting Lancour's charges dismissed based on the new video.

Superior Police also received the cell phone video.

The video has been sent to an outside use of force expert along with all records of this incident to allow an unbiased opinion on whether Gothner's use of force was appropriate.
