Madison, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) - Friday morning marked a milestone for a new Wisconsin law. The 100,000th Concealed Carry License was printed fewer than six months after 2011 Wisconsin Act 35 took effect.
“This is good news for Second Amendment advocates and our ability to deliver on another public service at the Department," Attorney General Van Hollen said.
The DOJ has received nearly 111,000 concealed carry applications since the law took effect November 1, 2011.
Wisconsin’s handgun hotline, staffed by employees of the Crime Information Bureau of the DOJ’s Division of Law Enforcement Services, handled a record 88,895 calls in 2011.
The department has also denied dozens of permit requests.
