Woman Pleads Guilty in Assault Case

Grand Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.com) -- A 43-year-old woman pleaded guilty to one count of Assault in the Third Degree and one count of Domestic Assault.

The criminal complaint states that on September 21, an Itasca County Deputy was called to the Waban Township on a report of a domestic assault with an eye injury.

The deputy learned that Jill M. Janacek had been staying with her boyfriend at his residence and they started to argue.

Janacek’s boyfriend told police that she started swinging a stick in his direction and hit him in the eye causing it to come out of its socket.
Janacek tested .301 at the scene and also tested .269 at the Itasca County Jail for alcohol consumption.

The maximum penalty for the Assault in the Third Degree is five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.

The maximum penalty for misdemeanor Domestic Assault is 90 days and/or $1,000 fine.

Janacek is scheduled to be sentenced in February of 2013.
