Sawyer County, WI (NNCNOW.com) -- The woman who sustained a gunshot wound to her head in Sawyer County earlier this month has died.
48 year old Claudia Bunny of New York succumbed to her injuries on January 25th around 2:15am. An autopsy has been performed, however no details have been released.
On January 18th, authorities were called to Ray Jay's restaurant on the report that a man was screaming and had blood on him. The caller told Sheriff's deputies that he had seen the man, 52 year old Kerry Stevenson of Louisiana, and his girlfriend at the bar earlier that day and feared something had happened to her.
Officers located Stevenson's girlfriend in his truck by Treeland's Resort off of County Highway B in the Town of Hunter with a gunshot wound to her head. She was transported to the hospital, but later died due to her injuries.
Stevenson was taken into custody and is being held at the Sawyer County Jail on a one million dollar cash bond for potential charges, including felon in possession of a firearm.
The Sawyer County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate this incident.
