After three tries the Minnesota Department of Education has given the Lake Superior School district the green–light to go to a four–day school week.
The approval means starting this fall students in Two Harbors and Silver Bay, plus other north shore families, will have a shorter school week but longer school days.
The move is expected to eliminate transportation and energy costs and help the district save about $250,000. Under the approval the school district will be allowed to operate on a shorter week until 2013.
