DULUTH, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - Two juveniles will be charged Monday for the arson fire that caused $100,000 of damage at the Lester Park Elementary School playground.
The St. Louis County attorney's office says the juveniles will be charged with felony negligent fire and 5th degree arson, which is a misdemeanor.
Police say the kids were reportedly experimenting with fire, building what they called a "camp fire" with clothing and paper.
The kids told police they thought they put the fire out, but it smoldered for several hours before gaining enough heat to re-ignite.
It burned the playground to the ground and damaged the school.
The County attorney says the arraignment for the juveniles will be set within the next two weeks.
