Duluth, MN (Northland's Newscenter)--A group of 12 first-graders from Daisy troop #4261 donated over 2,700 diapers to a local charity today.
As part of a service project, the troop collectively raised over $390.
The money collected, went towards buying diapers for The Diaper Drive, a drive specifically geared towards collecting diapers for area women's shelters and those in need.
The troop dropped the diapers off at the LSS Crisis Nursery located in the Ordean building off of Superior Street.
While on site, they were able to hear first hand from organizers just how much their donation helped out the members of the community.
"They decided that they wanted to make their own little donation cans—and they all made their own and brought it to the business of their choice," said Andria Kvitek, The Diaper Drive Branch Director. "We decided to go full circle and have them go with here and drop them off at the center here."
If you would like to provide diapers for families in need, visit The Diaper Drive web site.
The Diaper Drive accepts open packs of diapers.
