Going back to school can be a tough time financially for families.
Groups in the Northland are pulling together to try to take some of the burden off those families by accepting donations of clothes and school supplies for families in need.
The Safe Haven Shelter in Duluth is looking for donations including back packs, pencils, pens, folders, calculators and anything else students will need for the school year.
Child Advocate for the Shelter, Romona Peterson says it's so important for children to have the supplies they need for school.
"We want them to succeed in school. And there's nothing worse than going to school and you don't have what you're supposed to have and then the kids make fun of you cause you're not prepared," Peterson says.
If you would like to make a donation of school supplies to Safe Haven you can call 218-623-1000.
