I.V. Foster Tabbed as New Duluth Schools Superintendent

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Duluth School Board has identified Dr. I.V.Foster as its final candidate for superintendent and unanimously approved entering into contract negotiations with Dr. Foster.

The decision took place during a special meeting at Historic Old Central High School Saturday morning and followed a six-month process which included hiring a search firm, a public process to develop a leadership profile, several community forums and two rounds of public interviews.

The Board is scheduled to approve a final contract in May.

The new superintendent will assume his responsibilities July 1, 2011 following the retirement of current Superintendent Dr. Keith Dixon.

Dr. Foster’s experience includes Superintendent for the Prairie-Hills School District, Assistant Superintendent for the Rock Island School District, Principal for Carl Sandburg Intermediate School, and Dean of Students at West Aurora High School in Illinois.

He holds an Ed.D, in Education Administration and Leadership, an M.A.in Music Education and B.A. in Music Education from Northern Illinois University.
