Duluth, MN - (Northland's NewsCenter) - Fifth graders at Lakeview Christian Academy got a lesson in giving today.
Fifth grade teacher, Allison Hale and her students have been collecting non-perishable food items for the past month in order to donate them to Food Shelters.
Today, students served lunch at the Union Gospel Mission, bringing food to tables, cleaning and picking up trays.
The students have been learning about servant hood in the classroom and today they got to put their lessons into action.
11 year old Madison Cloutier says it made her feel good to help people in need.
"It means a lot to me to just do what Jesus would do and help other people, it's fun to do...to just know that people will be helped and know about Jesus," Cloutier said.
Cloutier says she believes taking part in these activities will make her want to help people when she's older.
