Mont Du Lac Ski Hill isn't just for winter time use anymore.
It now has summer camps for kids.
These girls are learning camping skills.

"It's fun because we get to do a whole bunch of things and you meet a whole bunch of new people." said camper Adele Leskela.

The campers also met a bunch of heat on Monday.

"Very hot and if it's hot today, we'll get to go in our swim suits in a sprinkler." said six year old camper Christine LeFleur.

Tuesday's temps did come down thanks to cloud cover from a storm system but the heat should return Wednesday.
The campers will use tips learned on Monday to beat that heat.

"We were pouring water bottles on our bandanas and putting them on our heads." said camper Samantha Matarelli.

According to camp counselors, plenty of water is the way to defeat high heat.

"Drink lots of water. We drank lots of water. Going in the shade helps, too." advises counselors Laura Sahlberg and Megan Mrkonjich.

The rule of thumb for water is about 48 to 64 ounces a day for children.
Mont Du Lac's head counselor says the colder the better.

"Ice water is really good and lots of sunscreen and cool, light clothes; a long sleeve light cotton shirt." said camp counselor Cherie LeTourneau.

With these tips, the Mont Du Lac campers have been able to have safe fun despite the hottest days of summer.
Camps like this will go on the rest of the season and the kids encourage others to check them out.

"Yeah, come on! Come and sign up! It's great!" said camper Devin Vostingh.

Though technically in Superior, Mont Du Lac is best accessed through the Fond Du Lac neighborhood of Duluth.
