Duluth, MN - (Northland's NewsCenter) - In one week 35 students from Morgan Park Middle School have raised more than 600 dollars for the American Heart Association.
Today the students celebrated their accomplishments in a "Hoops for Heart" event...playing a game of basketball, participating in an obstacle course and running relay races, all designed to teach the kids the importance of staying active and heart healthy.
Students asked family and friends, along with community members, for donations.
Along the way the kids learned a lot about people who have benefited from the American Heart Association.
"The main goal of today was to teach them about caring for other people, responsibility, giving back to the community and all about physical fitness, getting them active and having fun after school," says Student Teacher, Claire Wooldridge.
The students say they are proud of their accomplishment.
