Duluth, MN (Northlands NewsCenter)
-- The College of St. Scholastica is welcoming its 100th freshman class to their campus this Fall.

The private catholic college held its convocation ceremony with students, staff and alumni in attendance, some of them that attended the school more than 50 years ago.

The school is seeing a small increase in attendance this year with around 490 freshmen, one of the biggest classes Scholastic has ever had.

Officials credit the consistent enrollment to a strong academic emphasis, and a wide variety of student organizations in which students may participate.

"Clubs, counseling support if they need that, intramural sports, recreation activities; all sorts of things that that make students happy and integrated and on task with their classes."

Their will be a centennial celebration on Scholastica's Campus Monday.
