Duluth , MN (NNCNOW.com)--- Students at Piedmont Elementary School in Duluth were hitting the books Tuesday as part of national "I Love to Read Week".

The school invited Minnesota Children's author Debra Frasier to spend the day reading to t students.

Some of the kids even got to have lunch with the author.

Sandy Anderson, a second grade teacher at Piedmont Elementary, says getting kids involved in reading from a young age is critical to their future.

"it's the most important thing that we can do for them is to get them excited about reading because when you can read you can do everything. You can go everywhere," said Anderson.

I love to read week continues Wednesday with kids wearing pajamas to school.
