SUPERIOR, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) - The interim chancellor at UWS was serving "southern-style" food tonight to students as a farewell dinner.

Chancellor Christopher Markwood served up his family's traditional New Year's meal for students.

It included ham made with Pepsi and his mother's special spoon cornbread.

The chancellor will be leaving the university to go to Texas A&M in Corpus Christi to serve as provost and vice president for academic affairs.

He says he's sharing the meal with a group he considers family.

"We started our family here together and all of the people here at UW Superior and people in this community have been part of that and so we really feel like they are part of our extended family," said Markwood.

Markwood's last day is next Friday.
