DULUTH, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - Three finalist candidates will move on to all day interview sessions as the Duluth School Board continues its superintendent search.
After interviewing six semi-finalists, the Board chose the following candidates as finalists for the position:
Dr. I.V. Foster
Ed.D., Northern Illinois University
Superintendent, Prairie-Hills SD 144 – Markham, IL
M.Ed., University of Minnesota – Duluth, MN
Assistant Superintendent, Independent School District 709 - Duluth, MN
Dr. James Hess
Ed.D., University of Northern Colorado
Superintendent, Independent School District 31 – Bemidji, MN
April 27- 29, each finalist will spend one day in meetings with teachers, principals, administration, staff and parent leaders, among others, who will provide their thoughts and considerations to the School Board.
Members of the community are invited to meet the candidates, ask questions and provide their own advice to the School Board during community forums April 27-29 from 4:30PM to 5:30PM in the Historic Old Central High School Board Room, 215 N. First Avenue East in Duluth.
A second interview with the School Board will follow April 27-29 at 7:30PM, again in Historic Old Central High School. Those interviews are also open to the public.
The Board is expected to select a final candidate shortly after the interviews are completed April 29th. Contract negotiations and an official appointment will follow in May, with the new superintendent taking office July 1, 2011.
