Minnesotans have narrowly rejected the constitutional amendment that would have defined marriage as only between a man and a woman.

With 97 percent of precincts reporting, "no" votes on the marriage amendment have reached nearly 1,463,341 and have taken over 52 percent of the vote.

"Yes" votes were at just over 1,358,218 with just over 47 percent of the vote.

The amendment needed 50 percent or more "yes" votes to pass.
