Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com)-- Tuesday was Election Day in Wisconsin!

Voters headed to the polls in various counties throughout Northwestern Wisconsin to decide on several local races.

Seats are up for grabs on the Superior City Council, Douglas County Board, Superior, Maple and Solon Springs School Boards, Iron County Board of Supervisors and multiple other town and village boards.

Officials say voter turnout has been pretty slim so far.

"The turnout has been very low. usually the spring election isn't as high of a turnout, regardless, but I think the weather probably played a factor today, you know the early morning wasn't a good start to the day with the snow and ice," said Susan Sandvick, Douglas County Clerk.

One race that many are watching in Iron County that could have an impact on the proposed iron ore mine in the Penokee Hills.
