An F-16 from the Minnesota Air National Guard’s 148th Fighter Wing from Duluth taxis to the EOR after landing at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, Aug. 14, 2012. Personnel are deployed from the Minnesota Air National Guard's 148th Fighter Wing in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Bull Dog F-16s, pilots, and support personnel began their air expeditionary force deployment in mid-August to take over flying missions for the air tasking order and provide close air support for troops on the ground in Afghanistan.

Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Personnel from the 148th Fighter Wing have arrived at Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan to provide close air support for troops on the ground in Afghanistan.
The 179th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron arrived in Kandahar on Tuesday to take over flying missions for Operation Enduring Freedom.
This mission will be the first time the 148th will use its Block 50 F16 jets while deployed.
About 150 men and women from the 148th Fighter Wing left Duluth late at night on August 7th for Kandahar.
A total of 300 members of the 148th will be on the ground in Afghanistan.
This is the fourth overseas deployment for the Wing, but it’s first to Afghanistan. The Wing has previously deployed to Joint Base Balad, Iraq in 2005, 2007 and 2008.
