Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- They've come from across the Midwest to dominate the competition...and have some fun while their at it.
Dozens of high school teams from all over the Midwest converged on Duluth this weekend for the Lake Superior and Northern Lights Regional Robotics Competitions.
The Lake Superior Regional is in its 3rd year of competition while the North Star is celebrating its first year. The North Star Regional was created to accommodate the growing number of teams wanting to compete since this year saw the competition nearly double in size compared to 2012.
This year's challenge was to create a robot in 6 weeks that could throw a Frisbee into six different nets and could climb up a pyramid.
The competition is fierce with some teams who have been building their own robots since the 1990s and some who are experiencing their first robotics competition this year.
