Hermantown, MN - (The Northland's News Center) - Hundreds of cars lined up throughout the day at the Superior Choice Credit Union in Hermantown to take part in their effort to help the environment.

People were able to drop off their old computers, monitors, microwaves, laptops and televisions to be recycled...at no cost to the donors.

Seven members of the credit union braved the chilly weather and donated their time to unload and pack up the items that were dropped off and get them ready to be shipped out.

Branch Manger at the Superior Choice Credit Union, Mark Spehar, says their goal is to help their community.

"Credit Unions are all about serving community, and we do so through various ways. This is one of the ways that we can do it and help people get rid of stuff that they need to get rid of. Sometimes you see it along the highway, well we're trying to prevent that. So we're helping people keep the environment clean and get rid of their stuff at the same time," Spehar said.

Spehar says they were excited so many people showed up to donate at their event.
