DULUTH, MINN. --- Properly disposing of unused medication can be confusing for many, but on Thursday WLSSD provided an easy solution for the Northland community.

The Western Lake Superior Sanitary District held a medicine collection event Thursday, giving the public a chance to dispose of old prescriptions safely and properly.

WLSSD officials said it's important that people have a way to get rid of their old medications in the right way.

"We don't want people stockpiling these materials, pharmaceuticals or other medicine cabinet items, in their homes," WLSSD Environmental Program Coordinator Sarah Lerohl said, "and we offer this disposal so they can get rid of some of those things."

There is more information about properly disposing medications at the WLSSD web site.
