Itasca County, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A 71 year old Hibbing man was sentenced to almost 5 years behind bars in connection with a fatal car versus power scooter crash.

Lyle Elmer White pleaded guilty to Criminal Vehicular Homicide and was sentenced today in Itasca County Court. The judge stayed the execution of White's sentence and placed him on supervised probation for 10 years on the conditions that he spend 12 months in jail, give a DNA sample, and not drink alcohol or use drugs among other conditions.

Back in September, officers responded to the scene of a fatal crash involving a car and a power scooter on Itasca County Road 29.

Authorities say White was under the influence at the time of the crash and was driving negligently.
