VIRGINIA, MN (Northland's NewsCenter)---After more than a year of negotiation with the Virginia City Council, city workers in AFSCME Local 454 have approved the latest contract offer.
The bargaining unit "overwhelmingly approved" a new three year contract from 2012 through 2014.
They also approved a contract settling 2011.
Under the new contract, city workers would pay 85 percent of their healthcare insurance premiums while the city will pay 15 percent.
The Virginia City Council is expected to vote on the contract on May, 8.
The last wage increase for 46 members of the union was in 2009.
