No Gun Control Bill this Session, MN House Speaker Says

St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Stricter gun control regulations at the Minnesota State Capitol are looking less likely, at least in the House.

House Majority Leader Paul Thissen told the Star Tribune Wednesday that a gun bill will not be heard on the floor this session.

The big debate began in February with hearings looking at a number of proposals including a ban on assault rifles and universal background checks.

The House bill included a modified provision having to do with background checks at gun shows.

The Senate version still waiting to be heard includes universal background checks.
