Automatic Spending Cuts Prompt Furloughs at MN Nat'l Guard

St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Sequestration is forcing The Minnesota National Guard to put military technicians on furlough this summer.

According to a statement from the guard, 1,118 technicians are subject to take an unpaid day off each week, for 11 weeks, starting July 15th.

2,100 total full-time military personnel support the activities of the Minnesota National Guard

The Duluth-based 148th Fighter Wing employs 241 federal technicians. Of the 241 federal technicians, 216 of them are federal military technicians and 25 are civilian technicians.

The Minnesota National Guard stresses citizen soldiers and airmen will be ready to respond in the event of a state or federal emergency.
