St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A bill aiming to strengthen Minnesota’s anti-bullying laws is headed to the Senate Floor for a vote.

The Safe and Supportive Schools Act authored by Senator Scott Dibble of Minneapolis cleared the Senate Finance Committee Wednesday morning in a 12 - 9 vote.

The bill calls on schools to establish their own policies.

It also provides protection for students are most likely to be bullied.

Opponents say the bill would put a heavy burden on cash-strapped school districts and goes beyond addressing bad behavior.
