Aurora, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- On Tuesday, the residents of Aurora will vote for mayor and one of the three candidates is drawing attention to his campaign, due to his unique status in the town.

Aurora's current Mayor, Mary Hess, will be running for reelection in the Mayoral race on Tuesday, against resident Dave Meyer, and the owner of Dick's head shop Dick Clark.

Clark says his motivation for running is based on his desire to help veterans.

"They're very needy right now... Like anyone... There's a lot of needy people out there right now," said Clark.

His goal is to keep the Disabled American Veterans donation box near his shop where it currently is, rather than moving it next to a bar where it would be trashed, as he says the city has proposed.

"I believe people should be educated on what this box is here. This box is a non-profit organization again that is there for the people that need it there," said Clark.

Overall, he says that veterans need all of the help that they can get, and he hopes to provide some of that help.

Current mayor, Mary Hess, says the people in Aurora are the reason for her decision to seek a fourth term.

"I'm running again because, actually, I love this city and I love the citizens that reside in this city," said Mayor Hess.

Hess wants to continue to work on the local housing development, and bringing new businesses into town.

Dave Meyers, the third Mayoral candidate, says he is running in order to make a change.

He hopes to create more jobs in the area, push safety measures in schools, and completely eradicate synthetic drugs.

All three candidates say they are looking forward to the election.

"I look forward to people voting tomorrow, Tuesday November 5th, and hopefully they'll exercise their privilege in voting," said Mayor Hess.

Voting at the polls will take place on Tuesday and we'll have the results Tuesday night at ten.
