Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Boundary Waters Advisory Committee met tonight to discuss the next steps with the BWCA Trail.
The Pow Wow Trail nearly vanished in 2011 due to the Pagami Creek Fire.
The trail currently suffers from overgrowing brush, falling trees, unmarked trails and damaged campsites.
US Forest Service crews are working to resurrect the trail.
However, the committee said much more must be done.
"The forest service will need more volunteer help to bring the trail back so hikers can enjoy it again in years to come," said Martin Kubik, Boundary Water Advisory Committee.
The Pow Wow Trail runs 31 miles long throughout the Boundary Waters.
