Deer River Woman Sentenced After Stealing Thousands from License Bureau

A Deer River woman was sentenced Monday after stealing more than $5,000 from the Grand Rapids License Bureau she had worked at.

32 year old Crystal Marie Wilson was sentenced to 30 days in the Itasca County Jail.

Wilson previously pled guilty to the felony crime of Theft by Swindle for taking money from motor vehicle title fees from the Grand Rapids Ford dealership that were not processed by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.

The thefts happened between November and December of 2011.

Wilson is ordered to provide a DNA sample, full time school/work or 20 hours of community service per week, future transport costs, chemical dependency evaluation and follow recommendations, letter of apology to victims and no alcohol or drugs and subject to random testing.
