Dog Rescue Prompts Warning from Authorities

April 25, 2013 Updated Apr 25, 2013 at 7:00 PM CDT

Hibbing, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A dog rescue on a lake near Hibbing has prompted a warning for pet owners tonight from authorities.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's office says firefighters rescued the pooch, named "Buddy", after it fell through the ice on Sand Lake.

It had endured nearly an hour in the cold water.

The Sheriff's Offices warns with the warmer weather over the next few days, the ice on area lakes will thin rapidly and could pose a danger to people and pets.
