Ely, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A proposed copper and nickel mine near Ely is expected to have a life span of 30 years.

In its draft feasibility study, released this week, Duluth Metals proposes mining 50,000 short tons of minerals per day.

The study also found the underground mine could produce 5.8 billion pounds of copper, 1.2 billion pounds of nickel, and one million ounces of gold.

Duluth Metals is working with Chilean-based Antofagasta on the northern Minnesota project.
