St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) – Dozens of community and business leaders along with citizen advocates are at the state capitol Wednesday lobbying for Duluth and St. Louis County.

The 17th annual “Duluth & St. Louis County Days” is a chance for area leaders to talk with lawmakers face to face about issues important to the area.

The city of Duluth is pushing for money to help with several construction projects in the city.

Those requests include $5.7 million for Wade Stadium renovations, $3.4 million for a water transport system for Spirit Mountain and $6.9 million for NorShor Theatre renovations.

"The projects we're asking for support for are high profile and resonate. They also have local money involved that makes legislators recognize that we have skin in the game as well," said Roger Wedein, the director of policy and education at the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce.

St. Louis County is hoping to secure funding to improve the Northeast Regional Corrections Center and to create a northern home for the St. Louis County Sheriff's Volunteer Squad.

Billy Wagness is following the lobbying efforts and will have complete coverage on the news starting at 5 & 5:30.
