Essar Steel Minnesota Could Build DRI Plant

Eveleth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Essar Steel Minnesota officials say they're in talks with several other companies to add another plant.

During a meeting of the IRRRB Thursday, Essar Steel's Chief of Projects, Steve Rutherford, told the board that the company is in talks with three different companies about starting a Direct Reduced Iron, or DRI, plant.

Rutherford said that the company is in 'deep negotiations' with one company.

He says that Essar will push to have the DRI plant built in Minnesota.
