Nashwauk, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - Essar Steel Minnesota announced Friday that they've received their first piece of mining equipment at the site near Nashwauk.
The Atlas Copco Pit Viper 351 drill was assembled over the last week and is now ready to undergo field testing. Essar's Chief Mine Engineer says training on the drill has already begun for operators.
The company plans to use the drill for mining later this year.
News of the new mining equipment comes three weeks after the company announced a temporary slowdown at the taconite pellet production plant.
