Hibbing, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Northland Chapter of the American Red Cross is stepping in to help two men who lost their home on Monday after a fire destroyed the rental unit.
An afternoon fire on Monday left two Hibbing men homeless. The Red Cross is assisting both victims, providing food, clothing, and emergency lodging for three days to give the victims time to find other housing.
“September is Disaster Preparedness Month, and the Red Cross encourages everyone to create disaster kits and plans to be ready in the event of fire,” said Red Cross Executive Director Judy Hanne Gonzalez.
The Northland Chapter responds to about 100 local disasters every year.
