Fire Near Bemidji Claims One Life

Bemidji, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- A fatal fire near Bemidji took the life of a 74-year-old Bemidji woman, who was inside the structure at the time of the blaze.

The homeowner, Ingeburg Katharina Tangen, was found deceased inside the home.

According to the Beltrami Sheriff's Office, dispatch received a call around 2:40am on Friday, November 2nd of a structure fire on the 1000 block of Tyler Avenue NW in Bemidji Township.

When officers arrived on scene, the home was engulfed in flames. Once fire fighters extinguished the flames, they discovered Tangen inside the home.

An autopsy is pending for the victim in Ramsey, MN.

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office Investigators and the MN State Fire marshal are investigating the cause of the fire.

Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, Bemidji Fire Department, MN State Fire Marshal’s Office, Bemidji Ambulance Service, Bemidji Police Department and Beltrami Electric Cooperative all responded to the fire.
