Hibbing, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A number of Firefighters on the Iron Range battled smoke at the Hibbing Park hotel Tuesday afternoon.
The building was evacuated as a precaution.
The Hibbing Fire Department said the fire appeared to have started in a wall between two hotel rooms sometime after 4 p.m.
The two rooms suffered significant damage.
Officials say the hotel's guests were not in their rooms at the time of the fire but advises it's important to get out when a fire alarm goes off.
"Take fire alarms seriously," said Christopher Petrack with the Hibbing Fire Department. "When a fire alarm goes off in a building like this, treat it like it is a fire. Grab your family, account for them, and get to an exit and wait there until you are told to go back in."
The building sustained fire, smoke, and water damage estimated at $20,000.
The fire was investigated and determined to be accidental in nature.
The west portion of the hotel and pool area will remained closed until cleaning and restoration can be done.
