St. Paul, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - A bill aiming to serve Minnesota’s 4,000 homeless vets is on its way to the State Government Finance Committee.

Duluth DFL State Represntative Kerry Gauthier testified at a house hearing this morning in support of the bill.

The bill allocates $250,000 over the next two years to the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs.

“I am proud to support this legislation to better serve Duluth’s homeless veterans,” explained Gauthier. The bill allocates $250,000 in both 2012 and 2013 to the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, which in turn would provide the full amount in a grant to the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV).

MAVC projects include the 'Duluth Veterans Place' in West Duluth.
