Grand Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Grand Rapids Library is focused on promoting children's literacy and that job got a little easier with the help of a grant.
A grant from the Library Foundation funded $2,400 worth of new children's books.
The money was used to purchase 160 new nonfiction titles. Library officials say they hope the books inspire children to read for enjoyment.
"It's very important for them to find that reading is enjoyable and not just an assignment for school," said Darla Kirwin of the Grand Rapids Library.
February is 'I Love to Read' month, another reason the library is hoping to engage children in reading.
