Grand Rapids Superintendent gets new job, new title

Grand Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Superintendent of the Grand Rapids School district has been named the first executive director of Education Innovation Partners.

Joe Silko will head up the new regional partnership of more than 20 school districts and five community colleges across Northeastern Minnesota.

The goal is to provide a 21st Century education for youth and adult learners.

Silko who announced his retirement as superintendent of schools at Monday's Grand Rapids School Board meeting will assume his new leadership role in mid-October.
