Grand Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Grand Rapids transforms into the Emerald City this week and you won't need a yellow brick road to get there.

The ageless classic "The Wizard of Oz" turns 75 this year and the home of Judy Garland is celebrating the milestone.

The Children's Discovery and Judy Garland Museum have a number of planned evens this week, kicking off Tuesday on what would have been Judy Garland's 92nd birthday.

The executive director of the museum has a big surprise in store for visitors.

"We'll be opening up a New Land of Oz exhibit. Almost 1,000 pieces. Wizard of Oz memorabilia so we'll unveil that on Judy's birthday, June 10th. That will be up for five years," said John Kelsch, the executive director of the Judy Garland museum.

The week-long event wraps up on Friday with an attempt to break a world record by having the most dressed up Wizard of Characters next to the museum.
