Grand Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The performing arts center that calls Grand Rapids home got a special visit on Wednesday from the Minnesota Senate Bonding tour.

The City of Grand Rapids is requesting $3.8 million to build an addition onto the Myles Reif Center

Supporters are looking to add 60 additional seats to the main theater, build a studio theater with 200 new seats and expand the lobby area.

Built in 1981, the center has enjoyed great popularity and has welcomed a diverse range of world-class performers to its stage.

Members of the Senate Capital Investment Committee are touring the state gathering information for next year's state bonding bill.
