Grand Rapids teen pleads guilty to fleeing police, driving while impaired

Grand Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A Grand Rapids teen has pleaded guilty to two charges related to a high speed chase last summer.

The 17-year-old boy led police on a pursuit from the town of Blackberry through Grand Rapids where authorities say the suspect attempted to run police off the road.

An officer fired a shot at the teen's vehicle during the chase.

Itasca County court Thursday, the teen pleaded guilty to two of five charges, including fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and to Fourth Degree Driving While Impaired.

"The Defendant's actions put many lives at risk and thankfully no one was hurt or killed as a result. The use of drugs played a significant role in the defendant's behavior in the incident.This case is a chilling reminder of the danger of drugs."

The teen will be sentenced on March 19th.
