Virginia, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A first-of-its-kind multi-million dollar Virginia surgery center broke ground on Tuesday, where soon a more intimate quality of care for Iron Rangers will be provided.
Dozens of Virginia city and business leaders rolled up their sleeves to break ground for the new Northwoods Surgery Center located on Bailey Lake in Virginia.
The new facility, which is a joint venture, will focus on providing same-day surgical care in multiple specialties including general outpatient surgery.
Project developers say the facility will bring a new level of personal, quality care to the Iron Range.
“It’s a very exciting project for the city and for health care on the Iron Range. Ambulatory surgery centers have been available in other locations but haven’t been available on the Iron Range at all, so I think it’s a great opportunity for Fairview to partner with Dr. Sundell and her associates and to bring the ambulatory surgery model to the Iron Range,” said David Hohl, Vice President of Business Development, Fairview Range.
Developers say the new facility is expected to cost around $5 million.
Construction on the project is scheduled to get underway this fall with a grand opening scheduled for 2014.
