Two Dead in Head On Collision South of International Falls

International Falls, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- A 24 year old man and 23 year old woman of International Falls are dead after a head on collision on Highway 53 just south of International Falls Thursday morning.

One person is listed in critical condition at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.

The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the car accident at 7:42 a.m.

Authorities learned that a Ford pick-up truck traveling northbound on Highway 53, driven by 68-year-old Burton Pinchuk, of Naperville, Illinois, crossed the centerline and struck a car traveling southbound.

The 24 year old man and 23 year old woman traveling in the car, died at the scene.

Pinchuk was transported by ambulance to International Falls Hospital and then flown by helicopter to St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth where he is listed in critical condition.

Passenger in the pick up truck, 69-year-old Glen Wegworth, of McHenry, Illinois, was also transported by ambulance with non life threatening injuries.
