Hibbing Precinct Changes Following Population Decline

April 4, 2012 Updated Apr 4, 2012 at 5:02 PM CDT

HIBBING, MN (Northland's NewsCenter)--About 200 people living in Hibbing will vote at different polls this election following a drop in population.

The Hibbing City Council adopted new voting precincts after Census results show the population dropped by more than 700 people in the last 10 years.

The population is divided into five city wards and within those are 11 precincts.

Acting City Administrator Sherri Renskers says the new divisions are equally populated and practical according to defining boarders.

"You have to follow physical geographical areas," she said. "So streets or streams or roads."

You can expect to get a postcard in the mail if your voting precinct has changed.
