Hibbing, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - The Hibbing Salvation Army is in need of school supply donations. They say that need is up this year, but donations are down.

They attribute this to tough economic times and say that some of the people who used to donate to them are now in need of help themselves.

The Salvation Army's goal is to provide 179 Iron Range students with new backpacks filled with school supplies.

They say that the items they need the most are:

- Teenage backpacks
- Colored pencils
- Markers
- Grade school scissors
- Folders
- Loose Leaf paper

The Hibbing Salvation Army will hold a "Stuff the Bus" drive for school supplies on Saturday, August 25th from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at their location on Howard St. in Hibbing.

Both school supplies and monetary contributions are welcomed.
