Hibbing, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The driver of a production truck for Hibbing Taconite escaped with minor injuries after his truck started on fire Tuesday morning.

An incident happened just before 11 a.m. and resulted in a fire involving a 240-ton production haul truck.

The fire has been limited to one of the vehicle's front tires.

The driver was able to stop and exited the vehicle with minor injuries. He was then taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The Hibbing Fire Department crew is on site, but following proper fire fighting protocol for this type of incident- they have to remain at a safe distance and are allowing the tire to burn itself out for now.

The Mine Safety and Health Administration has been notified.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
